Alien8 recordings is celebrating its thirteenth year in 2009 and continues to release an eclectic mixture of music from Canada and around the world, paying special attention to the music community of its hometown of Montreal. The label began in the mid 90s documenting noise and experimental music with releases by Merzbow, Keiji Haino, Masonna, Francisco López and Acid Mothers Temple. Over time the label's taste has broadened to include Montreal artists working in numerous other genres such as The Unicorns, Set Fire to Flames, Duchess Says, Think About Life, Tim Hecker and many others. Mastered by and featuring Taigen Kawabe of Bo Ningen; recorded across 2021 and 2023 at the Acid Mothers Temple, Japan. Expertly produced, engineered, and mixed by the Acid Mothers Temple frontman, Kawabata Makoto. "Holy Black Mountain Side" features purpose commissioned artwork by acclaimed Japanese artist Kashiwagi Ten. Pressed on 180g heavyweight eco mix coloured vinyl, allowing for great quality of sound, each piece being as unique as the sound they contain!
