October 20 street date. Melbourne punks Clowns have never been ones to conform. The five-piece started in 2010 as a more-or-less straightforward hardcore punk act, but over the course of their first four albums have steadily evolved and mutated their sound in whatever direction they felt like. "Endless" continues down this snaking path - its 12 songs swerving right and left abruptly, veering from frenetic punk to slower more psychedelic-tinged rock, all while remaining a cohesive amalgamation of their previous work. Like all Clowns albums, this one ends with a wildly experimental track. "A Widow's Son" tells the story of an Australian outlaw whose legend will never die, perfectly summing up the theme of immortality which weighs heavy throughout the album. In its entirety, "Endless" serves as a new beginning for Clowns. In more ways than one the band have been reborn, and this is the invigorating and astonishing first stage of their next adventure.
