April 26 street date. By 1986, Metallica had gained a fearsome reputation for performing fast, aggressive, thrash metal, but still continued to stun audiences worldwide. Following the tragic death of bassist Cliff Burton in a bus crash on September 27, many believed the band would break up. However, with the blessing of Burton's family, Metallica soldiered on, enlisting Jason Newsted as his replacement. More impressively, the band resumed touring again just over a month later. In mid-November, the group flew to Asia for four shows in Japan, the second of which, performed at Nagoya's Cultural Hall, was just the fourth that Newsted had been a part of. A dynamic gig, the entire event was recorded for live radio transmission across Japan and synched on many US stations too. Previously unavailable, this magical concert is now released on vinyl for the first time on this superb 2LP set.
